3 US missions closed in Germany

WASHINGTON, Jan 30: The United States on Thursday closed three official missions in Germany after receiving information about threats to the facilities, the State Department said.

The consular section of the US embassy and the cultural center in Berlin as well as Pentagon’s defence liaison office in Bonn were all closed to the public and to remain shut through the weekend, spokesman Richard Boucher said.

He said the closures were ordered “in view of unsubstantiated threat information” provided by German officials.—AFP
