Last week the media was abuzz with the news that film actress Meera was going to take part in the forthcoming general elections. She will be a candidate from one of Lahore’s constituencies and might fight against a heavyweight of Pakistani politics. Till the time this news item went into print, there was no rethinking on the part of Meera. If she does go on to contest the elections, it will be a healthy sign because most politicians and Meera do have one thing in common: their penchant for using ticklish English, especially when there’s no need for it.
