QUETTA: One person was injured when the office of the District Election Commissioner Nushki was attacked with a grenade on Saturday, sources said.

Unidentified men on a motorcycle hurled the hand-grenade into the backyard of the DEC’s office, leaving a man injured and damaging part of the building.

The injured could not be identified.

The sources said that security personnel deployed at the office opened fire on the attackers, forcing them to escape.

Windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered by the impact of the explosion.

It was the second attack on an election office in Balochistan over the past four days. A policeman was injured in the previous attack on the office of the District Election Commissioner Kharan.
