KARACHI: Pakistan's fast rising cueist Mohammad Majid Ali stormed into the semi-final of 14th Asian U21 Snooker Championship with an emphatic 5-2 victory over Lu Ning of China in Indore, India on Saturday.
The 20-year-old from Faisalabad, who is featuring in his second Asian junior event, bounced back from a 1-2 deficit to surprise his fancied opponent with brilliant tactical play and controlled potting in the quarter-final.
Majid started well by grabbing the opening frame but Lu Ning came back strongly, picked up next two frame to forge 2-1 ahead with a break of 61 in third frame.
However, showing no pressure and nerves, Majid potted with consistency and in remarkable turnaround he won the next four frames at trot to chalk out an impressive win.
Result: M.Majid Ali bt Lu Ning 5-2 (76-26, 26-81(61), 19-76, 77-28, 77-48, 66-29, 94-0.
