DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 29: ANP leader Ghulam Ahmad Bilour has said that the MMA cannot enforce Islamic system and added that even its government in the NWFP is powerless to declare Friday as weekly holiday.

He was speaking at a function organized at the Dera Press Club in connection with the 15th death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan on Tuesday evening.

Criticizing army’s role in political affairs, Mr Bilour said that army had hijacked democracy every time it started taking root. He alleged that Punjab was pocketing all the national resources.

He said the ANP would never accept the Legal Framework Order as part of the Constitution and would continue to oppose the constitutional amendments. He alleged that the MMA leaders had deceived people in the name of Islam. Politics was never their job, he said, adding that religious leaders had more lust for power than enforcing Shariat.
