LAHORE, March 31: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif will contest the upcoming elections from NA-120 as his nephew Hamza Shahbaz submitted nomination papers on behalf of the former prime minister late on Sunday.

Former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif has already submitted his nominations for NA-118 and 129, and Hamza for NA-119. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has filed his papers for the NA-122, 125 seats, while media reports suggest he is likely to contest for NA-126 as well.

With the announcement of PML-Likeminded chief Arbab Ghulam Rahim, former Sindh chief minister, forming the People’s League to the disadvantage of the PML-Q’s splinter group, many of the group’s leaders have turned to the PML-Junejo to contest polls from there.

Humayun Akhtar Khan has reportedly been told to bring along Arbab Rahim with him before he is given a PML-N ticket for NA-124 (Lahore). The former PML-Likeminded leader had been seeking PML-N’s support for NA-79 (Samundri, Faisalabad) constituency where he had set up his beverage factory.

From Lahore, Humayun has reportedly submitted nominations for NA-118, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127 and 130 constituencies in the hope of getting a PML-N ticket for one of these.

Likeminded Information Secretary Kashmala Tariq has filed nominations for NA-124 and 125.
