PESHAWAR: The nomination papers of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan and former federal minister Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour were filed with the returning officer concerned here on Thursday for contesting elections from NA-1, Peshawar-I constituency.

Mr Bilour, a central leader of Awami National Party (ANP), personally visited the Judicial Complex, where offices of returning officers for Peshawar are situated, to file his papers whereas some leaders of PTI submitted nomination papers of Imran Khan.

Apart from them nomination papers were also filed for NA-1 by a leader of Pakistan People’s Party Zulfiqar Afghani, Haroon Ahmad Bilour of ANP, Hazrat Mohammad alias Babu Mauvia and Pir Abdur Rehman of Mutahidda Deeni Mahaz (MDM), and independent candidate Advocate Hidayatullah Afridi.

Candidates have been filing nomination papers for four National Assembly and 11 provincial assembly seats in the provincial capital.

Mohammad Ijaz, a member of Mutahidda Qaumi Movement, filed papers for NA-2. The candidates, who filed nomination papers for NA-3, include former MNA of PPP Noor Alam Khan, Arbab Inamullah of ANP, Malik Javed of MQM and independent candidates Tabana, Ajmal Khan and Rafiq Khalil.

Those, who filed papers for NA-4 Peshawar-IV, include former MNA of Jamaat-i-Islami Sabir Hussain Awan, Shah Hussain Awan of JI and Qazi Saifullah of MDM.

For provincial assembly constituency of KP-1 nomination papers were filed by Ghazanfar Bilour of ANP, Saleem Jan of PTI, Abdul Waheed, Irfanullah, Badiuz Zaman, Asif Yaseen Khalil and Ajmal Khan.

Former provincial minister Hafiz Hashmat of JI also filed papers for PK-7 whereas deputy speaker of the provincial assembly Khushdil Khan filed papers for PK-10.

Meanwhile, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour told journalists that NA-1 was a very historical constituency and he had been contesting elections from it since 1988. He said whenever he won this seat it was all because of the blessings of Allah Almighty and he had been relying on Allah again.

Peshawar district returning officer, Shehbar Khan, on Thursday inaugurated an election cell for facilitating the candidates and general public.
