DADU, Jan 28: Primary teachers boycotted classes in the district’s seven talukas on Tuesday to protest against officials of the district accounts office.
The president, Primary Teachers Association (PTA), Dadu, Ghulam Rasool Chandio, had given the call for the protest.
The teachers, carrying banners and placards, and raising slogans against the district accounts officer, also staged a demonstration outside the local press club and blocked the Kutchehry Road for three hours.
They were led by Dadu PTA president Chandio, senior vice-president Ghulam Mustafa Sario, vice-president Badshahzadi Mallah and general-secretary Fateh Saleh Kakepoto.
Talking to the protesters, Chandio alleged officials of the district accounts office were demanding 10 per cent amount of salary, difference, and GP fund from 7,689 primary teachers of the district.
He said the officials stopped to pass GP fund, salary and difference bills of teachers when they refused to pay the amount.
He demanded action against officials concerned.
Later, the teachers observed a token hunger strike to press for acceptances of their demands.
SHOT DEAD: The bodyguard of the SP (investigation), Dadu, head constable Irshad Ahmed Jogro, on Monday shot dead one of his cousins, Abdul Sattar Jogro, 26, over a domestic dispute near Dadu town.
The deceased’s corpse was later brought to the Civil Hospital, Dadu, for an autopsy.
The police have arrested the killer and are investigating.
When contacted, the SP (investigation), Mohammad Sadiq, said that the accused policeman had been transferred from his personal staff to a police station on complaints.
