PESHAWAR, Jan 27: The deputy speaker of the NWFP assembly, Ikramulla Shahid, has expressed his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in district Mardan.

Speaking to a delegation of Khidmat Committee of Sheikhano Bariband (Charsadda district) here on Sunday, the deputy speaker said that the law and order situation in NWFP was becoming serious due to increasing criminal elements in the province.

He condemned the occurrence of some unfortunate incidents in Mardan district a few days earlier.

Mr Shahid said that the law enforcement agencies have failed to check the crime rate in the NWFP. He also urged the people of the community to cooperate with the police to control crimes.

He advised the committee members to play their effective role in the development of their districts and social worker organizations and committees should cooperate with the police and administration of their districts.

The members of the committee also discussed the poor health and education facilities in Sheikhano Baribandi. The deputy speaker assured the committee members of his help to solve the problems of their locality.
