ISLAMABAD, March 17: Commodore Nasir Mahmood was promoted to the rank of rear admiral with immediate effect, said a Pakistan Navy press release on Sunday.

Rear Admiral Mahmood was commissioned in the electrical branch of the navy in June 1982 and graduated from Pakistan Navy Engineering College in 1984.

The flag officer has vast experience of command and staff appointments, which include assistant chief of the naval staff (projects) and assistant chief of the naval staff (C4 I). He has also commanded Naval Precision Electronics Complex and PNS Karsaz.

His professional courses include weapon engineering application course from UK, consolidation course from PN Engineering College and tartar system course from USA.

He is a graduate of National Defence University, Islamabad.—APP
