LAHORE: All the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations were closed in Punjab on Saturday after an explosion targeted a gas pipeline near Kashmore, DawnNews reported.

Unknown assailants blew up the 30-inch gas pipeline which resulted in the suspension of gas supply to several cities of Punjab including, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Shaikhupura and Gujrat.

The provision of gas was suspended after Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) turned off the supply to CNG stations and industries.

An SNGPL spokesman said the company suspended supply to CNG stations and industries so gas needed for domestic consumption could be supplied without interruption.

Last week, four incidents of gas pipeline explosions were reported from areas surrounding Kashmore.
