ZTBL book berth in last eight

KARACHI, Jan 25: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) made to the last eight of the Quaid Trophy on virtue of first inning lead from their drawn match against Pak PWD at Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground on Saturday.

A last wicket stand of 86 between Rauf Akbar (58) and Rajesh Ramesh (36) was not enough to help Pak PWD overhaul ZTBL’s total of 510 for nine declared.

Pak PWD were bowled out for 420 after starting the final day on 247 for four.

ZTBL will face Faisalabad in the quarterfinal tie at UBL Sports Complex from Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Sargodha will meet Rawalpindi in the remaining quarterfinal after notching up a nine-wicket win over Lahore Whites at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar.

Lahore Whites were bowled out for 192 in their second innings after resuming at 111 for four on Saturday. Sargodha, needing just 47, lost only one wicket.

Off-spinner Jibran Khan, who shared a last wicket stand of 102 with Usman Arshad on Friday, claimed five for 51.
