Work in Lahore

Published April 24, 2013

I VISITED Lahore after a lapse of 10 years. I was simply amazed to see that it was totally transformed. The number of underpasses built on canal road and elsewhere helped in the smooth flow of traffic.

The latest underpass at Kalma Chowk is simply marvellous. The newly-built flyovers are superb. The roads have been widened. All underpasses are extremely clean; so are the roads.

There is better observance of traffic rules. But the real feather in the cap is its Metro Buses. Its network is all over the city and beyond.

Congratulations to Shahbaz Sharif who has worked relentlessly to develop Lahore. It has all the ingredients of a modern mega city.

Perhaps Western ‘statesmen’ may moderate their policies if a significant percentage of voters punish them at the ballot box.
