KARACHI, April 19: The Inspector General of Police, Sindh, has directed senior hierarchy in the department to take necessary pre-emptive security measures to protect the lives of 27 politicians who are taking part in the upcoming general elections, it emerged on Friday.

Sources in the provincial home department said that the list of the abovementioned 27 politicians was the first of ‘a few more’ such lists, which are being prepared by the security apparatus in light of the threat perception they detect. The criteria for the threat perception included intelligence reports, complaints from politicians and sensitivity of the area where they were contesting elections, the sources added.
