DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 25: A team, comprising Multan DIG, Leiah SSP and Multan SP (crimes), on Saturday started an inquiry to find out the reasons behind the Shadan Lond incident in which four protesters were killed by police on Nov 9.

The team reportedly recorded the statements of 40 people including station master Gull Muhammad.

Sources claimed the station master gave different statements while relatives of the deceased, including representatives of religious parties, termed it an act of brutality.

Sources quoted Gull as saying first of all the mob took aim on police. He also showed marks of bullet on the wall and bench.

Maulana Habib said when SHO Din Muhammad slapped him the mob started hurling stones on police. Police was responsible for killing four innocent youths, he claimed.

Meanwhile, 20 non-residents tried to record their statements in favour of police but they were identified by the locals. The team did not record their statements and ordered them to leave.

People of the Shadan Lond gave statements against police, insisting it was police who initiated firing on unarmed people.
