KARACHI, Jan 24: The Judicial Magistrate, Central, Jehangir Ahmed Dayo, on Friday remanded Faizanullah, Nazim of Union Council (UC-7) till Jan 26 in murder case of two workers of Muttahidda Qaumi Movement.
Earlier officers of Homicide, PS Joharabad produced Faizanullah, Nazim of Union Council-7, Gulberg Town, accused in murder case of Salman Farooqui and Syed Masood Ali before the JM seeking his physical remand for seven days. The court, however, extended remand by another two days and ordered production of the accused on Jan 27. Khalil, Syed Munawwar Hasan, Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Mairaj-ul- Huda Siddiqui, president of JI Karachi, were shown as absconders as per police papers.
According to remand papers, complainant Umaruddin who sustained injuries in the incident alleged that absconding accused incited the arrested accused to attack and kill MQM workers. The accused fired at the deceased who were sitting outside the house of Salman.
In another court proceeding, the trial in the US Consulate case was also put off till Feb 1 by Judge, Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC-III) Syed Aley Maqbool Rizvi, after recording statements of two more MLOs.
The case pertains to suicide bombing incident of June 2002 outside US Consulate in Karachi. Thirteen persons, all Pakistanis, were killed while 30 others sustained injuries in the incident as a suicide bomber rammed a Suzuki pick-up laden with explosives in huge quantity against the cement barricades at the place.
Mohammed Ashraf, Imran, Sharib and other activists of Harkatul Mujahideen Al-Almi are facing trial in the case.—APP
