ISLAMABAD, March 8: The Army Promotion Board on Friday approved promotion of 29 officers of the rank of brigadier to major general.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani presided over the meeting of the board which considered 190 brigadiers for promotion.

The officers would fill the positions falling vacant because of the retirement of major generals and lieutenant generals.

Those promoted are Brigadiers Sarfraz Sattar, M. Naeem Ashraf, Humayun Aziz, Qazi Muhammad Ikram Ahmad, Syed Shafqat Asghar, Muhammad Humayun Saleem, Bilal Akbar, Farhat Abbas Sani, Muhammad Ajmal Iqbal, Anwar Ul Haq Chaudhary, Muhammad Afzal, Faheem Ul Aziz, Nadeem Raza, Muhammad Tayyab Azam, Aftab Khan, Sher Afghun, Amer Aslam Khan, Abid Ejaz Khaloon, Anjum Enayat, Iftikhar Aamir, Mushtaq Ahmad Faisal, Qaiser Anees Khurram, Muhammad Muazzam Ali, Salah Ud Din Qasim, Jawad Khaliq Ansari, Sohail Hafeez, Amjed Iqbal, Mazhar Ishaq and Muhammad Ishfaq.
