WASHINGTON: The US State Department on Friday declined to comment on media reports that Pakistan would finalise a deal to export gas from Iran despite America’s strong opposition.

“I spoke about it quite extensively yesterday. I don’t think I have anything further since yesterday,” State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters when asked to comment on news reports.

“Just to be absolutely clear again, if this deal is finalised for a proposed Iran-Pakistan pipeline, it would raise serious concerns under our Iran Sanctions Act,” Ms Nuland had said on Thursday.

“We’ve made that absolutely clear to our Pakistani counterparts. And just to say again that Iran has proven again and again that it is not a reliable partner,” she said.

Ms Nuland said developing other sources of energy was the right direction for Pakistan.

Pakistan will be facing the sanctions if it goes along the project with despotic Iranian mullahs. Pakistani leaders should take stock of its precarious economic and dire financial situation in which it finds itself.

"Reliable partner" term when comes out of the mouth of your parliment or spokesperson trust do not sound good to ears. Even english being your mother tongue still you do not know the "meaning" of it. Please elaborate how reliable American CIA, Parliment, senate or and any of their decisions have been to Pakistan? kindly note your own specs need corrections and DO NOT INTERFERE in any kind of development of ur country. You give money to Pakistan's flesh eating government. We civilians earn through rough and hard times to feed ourselves and families.

Very bad and undesirable for the US to unduly pressurize Pakistan - an allied country in war against terrorism. Let us decide which country is reliable and what is good for us...please. Stop giving dictations ..please. Listening or not ??

i feel we should say no more to dictation from any one if we want success and prosperity.pak should think if this is necessory for the country then go ahead with out looking here and there for america consent.if you want positive change you should do by youself and if negative change then america is there to help you.the condition of our country is already worse without santions and all pakistanis are in serious situation but america is happy because they want mory misery in this country.

We as Pakistani always take USA our enemy ,where as we have taken lot from her. This is our legitimate right to explore energy resources ,in the case of Iran -Pakistan gas pipe line we stay firm what ever hurdle may come . NAJEEB

Wel, I don't know about Iran, but certainly US is not a reliable partner...Sanctions are better than dictation and infact we should put sanctions on them....

The US should not impose it laws on others, they no not abide by the UN charter them-self. Their sole purpose is to deny Iran all right to be a member of the comity of nation as it is a challenge to Israel.
