SHIKARPUR, Jan 23: A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Shikarpur on Thursday against ongoing tribal disputes in the district.

The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and the Jeay Sindh Mahaz had jointly given the call for the protest. A big procession was also taken out here against the tribal disputes.

Later, the protesters staged a demonstration outside the press club.

The protesters expressed concern over the apathy of officials concerned and tribal chiefs towards settling the disputes.

They appealed to Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar to take immediate action for the resolution of tribal disputes.

WORKSHOP: A one-day workshop on “violence against women” was organized by the DPM Graduates Coordination Council here on Thursday.

The participants of the workshop, including lawyers and journalists, decided to launch a campaign against Karo-kari.

Man killed: A man, belonging to the Adloo Jagirani village, was killed by some armed persons here on Tuesday evening.

The man, Mohammad Sultan Jagirani, was on the way to his village on a motorcycle when he was shot dead.

The Lakhi police on Wednesday registered a case against 15 Jatoi tribesmen, including Dadiloo, Manzoor, Ghulam Sarwar, Kamil and Ghulam Rasool, on the complaint of Allah Rakhio Jagirani, the cousin of the deceased.
