RAWALPINDI, Jan 22: The general secretary of PML-Q, Saleem Saifullah, has said he would soon start a campaign to end political difference between his party and other factions of Pakistan Muslim League (PML).

The general secretary was speaking at a meet-the-press session at Rawalpindi Press Club on Wednesday.

The PML-Q leader said he would meet some of the well-known political figures, including Ijazul Haq, Mian Manzoor Watto, Hamid Nasir Chatta and Peer Pagara to resolve their differences for strengthening one of the oldest political party of the country. However, he said any alliance with the PML-N was not possible at present.

He said, since 1985, Muslim League remained a ruling party for four times. He feared that if the various factions did not show unity for development of the country, people might not give them another chance in the future elections.

In February a committee will be set up, which will visit all the four provinces and strive for uniting activists of the PML, he added.

When asked that the PML-Q had not awarded senate tickets to some of the senior workers, Mr Saifullah said his party had awarded tickets to only deserving personalities.

When asked that the party was ruled by pro-establishment elements, which had weakened its role for re-establishment of democracy, he said the country was passing through a transitional stage and hoped that with the passage of time, the military set- up would transfer all the powers to the elected government.

But at present, the ruling party will like to work side by side with the military set-up, he added.

“The PML-Q appreciates healthy criticism by media and will like to work with the opposition for the betterment of the country.”
