HYDERABAD, Jan 22: The Sindh secretary for Auqaf, religious affairs, Zakat and Ushr, Fasiuddin Khan, has directed officials concerned to ensure proper distribution of the Zakat fund among deserving people.

He was presiding over a meeting of the District Zakat Committee chairman and officers of the education department.

Speaking at the meeting, the EDO, education, Manzoor Bhutto, stressed the need for resolving problems of deserving students.

He said funds, available with the District Zakat Committee for students, should be transparently distributed.

He said officials concerned should provide details of the new system of Zakat to educational institutions.

The secretary said deserving people would be provided Rs1,000 to 2,000 per month during training and after completion of the training, they would be given Rs5,000 so that they could buy necessary equipment for starting business.

SINDHI LANGUAGE AUTHORITY: The 13th meeting of the board of governors of the Sindhi Language Authority (SLA) on Wednesday approved the authority’s annual report and annual budget.

The chairman of the authority, Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, presided over the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail various schemes for the development of Sindhi language. It also reviewed reports submitted by various committees.

The Board appointed a publication committee, which is to be headed by Dr Nabi Bux Khan Baloch to review various projects besides providing guidance to the authority.
