KARACHI, Nov 25: Twenty-two vehicles — 13 cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Eleven cars were hijacked in Gizri, Darakhshan, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Ferozabad, Saddar, Al-Falah, Soldier Bazaar, Brigade, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Malir City, and Brigade. Two others were stolen in Defence and Darakhshan.

Four motorcycles were hijacked in Aziz Bhatti, Khwaja Ajmair Nagri, Azizabad, and North Nazimabad. Five others were stolen in Risala, Mehmoodabad, Preedy, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, and Al-Falah.

The police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered nine vehicles in the city.

Four die in accidents: Three young men died and two others were injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with an unidentified vehicle on Super Highway on late Saturday night.

The dead men, all employees of a private bank, were Shahid Ali, aged 28, Sulaiman, aged 27, and Shakir Husain, aged 30. The injured men were Shabbir, aged 20, and Abdul Haque, aged 40. They were admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The accident took place near Nagori Society, some distance from the Toll Plaza, the police said.

The police said that the car (AB-6194), heading for Hyderabad, collided with an unknown vehicle, overturned several times and hit against a side railing of the bridge.

A duty officer at Gadap police station said that either the car went out of control and hit against the bridge, or it might have collided with a moving vehicle and later hit against the railing of the bridge.

The police said that it seemed that the occupants of the car were on their way to a restaurant situated on Super Highway.

No one or any vehicle had been named in the FIR, the police said.

A pedestrian was run over by an unidentified truck near the New Sabzimandi on Super Highway on early Sunday morning. The police said that Khursheed Khan, aged 48, was hit by a fast-moving truck near the New Sabzimandi. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Khursheed was a resident of Mehmoodabad, the police said.

FALLS TO DEATH: A young man died when he fell from the fourth floor of an apartment complex in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Sunday.

The police said that Laiq Khan, aged 20, fell from the fourth floor of Ramsha Apartments. He was rushed to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
