KARACHI, Nov 25: The chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Husain, has said Punjab would not be allowed to annex a single inch of Sindh’s land.

Speaking to an elders’ meeting in Khurshid Begum Memorial Hall at Azizabad on Sunday, the MQM chief said Sindh’s Urdu-speaking and Sindhi-speaking people would resist resolutely all moves aimed at annexing Sindh’s land.

He said he was receiving invitations for a visit to India, and added that the Pakistan People’s Party, chairperson Benazir Bhutto, was visiting India.

He said if Benazir still can live with a reputation of a patriotic Pakistani, then how can I be declared a traitor.

Addressing the civil and military establishment, he said all the nations and ethnic groups should be considered equal citizens, and they should be given their rights for the sake of the integrity and solidarity of the country.

He said there were reports of a new operations against Mohajirs, and urged the rulers to act sensibly.

“Now operation against the MQM will be started by the establishment, but it will be ended by us. And this operation will end with the final settlement,” he said.

Referring to the dangers faced by the country, he said “the people have suffered terribly at the hands of the establishment, and now they are losing the will to support the establishment.”

Meanwhile, the deputy convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee, Nasreen Jalil, has expressed concern over the problems being faced by people in the acquisition of computerised national identity cards.
