KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said on Wednesday that opposition benches would be allotted to lawmakers belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement after issuance of a notification regarding the acceptance of resignation of the party’s provincial ministers.

Speaking to a group of newsmen in his office, he said that the MQM's MPAs as well as ministers had submitted a joint application for allotment of seats on the opposition benches but as per rules they had to submit their applications separately.

He said that the MQM MPAs would be allotted opposition benches whenever they applied for it.

In reply to a question, Mr Khuhro said that consultation with opposition parties was going on for dissolution of the national and all four provincial assemblies on a same day, maybe on March 15 or 16, so that the general elections could be held on one date in the country.
