KARACHI, Jan 21: A jobless young man committed suicide in Defence Housing Authority late Monday night.
Police said Gulzar Bhutto, aged 18, was found hanging in a servant quarter of a bungalow. The young man had come from Nawabshah to visit his brother Gulbaz Bhutto working at the bungalow in DHA Phase-II. He had been looking for job, but became dejected after talking to his brother who painted a bleak picture about employment.
Later, he hanged himself from a ceiling fan in a servant quarter.
SHOOTOUT: Two suspects and a policeman were injured in, what police claimed, an encounter with the suspects in Nazimabad on Tuesday.
Police signalled two suspects, riding a Vespa Scooter, to stop near the pedestrian overhead bridge in Nazimabad No 7. But they opened fire on the two policemen and escaped injuring a policeman, Mohammed Yaseen.
The injured policeman informed the police control. A police mobile also chased the suspects. The suspects hijacked a motorcycle near the Petrol Pump and were fleeing away while opening fire at the police mobile.
Police returned the fire injuring the two suspects.
Police arrested the suspects. They were identified as Abdul Wahab and Sanaullah. Police also claimed to have recovered two pistols from their possession.
ACCIDENT: One man died and two others were injured when a truck collided with a bus in Manghopir on Tuesday.
Police said Abdul Majeed, aged 45, Majeed and Murad Bakhsh were injured when a truck (LSB-5916) collided with a bus (JA-0392) on Manghopir Road.
The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Abdul Majeed dead on arrival.
