PESHAWAR, Feb 18: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz central general secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Monday said his party had yet not decided to make electoral alliance with other political groups but was in contact with the mainstream political parties, including Jamaat-i-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl, for adjustments in the coming elections.Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, the PML-N leader said his party’s doors were open to other political groups for electoral alliance.

“We are in constant contacts with leading political parties but have yet to finalise electoral alliance with anyone,” he said.

Mr Jhagra said PML-N would prefer making seat-to-seat adjustments with political parties in the upcoming elections as it would help it get the maximum number of assembly seats.

He said his party would win the next elections if they were held fairly.

The PML-N leader criticised the government for failing to restore peace and protect public life and property.

He said the ruling PPP-led coalition was responsible for the prevailing security crisis and uncertainty as it had taken no serious steps to manage the deteriorating law and order situation in the country in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Karachi and Quetta in particular.

Mr Jhagra said a conspiracy was being hatched by external forces for destabilising the country to implement their nefarious agenda.

He said the wrong policies of the government were to blame for the country’s challenges on domestic and international fronts.

“The holding of elections on time is the only solution to the current crises,” he said.

The PML-N leader welcomed local ANP activist Sardar Bahadur Khan to the party and said leaders and workers from other political parties were joining his party because the ruling coalition had lost the people’s confidence. He called for effective and long-lasting halt to sectarian killings in the country.

Earlier, Sardar Bahadur announced to quit ANP and join PML-N. He said it was the government’s prime duty to protect public life and property but it had failed to do so the people’s misery.
