LAHORE, Feb 12: An odd situation was witnessed at the POA general council meeting here on Tuesday when no member of the Army Sports Directorate bothered to attend it while the Pakistan Golf Federation, headed by Army chief, sent its secretary Taimur Hasan to attend it.

Taimur had also attended the POA advisory council meeting which was held at the POA offices last month and his presence on Tuesday momentarily encouraged the POA and they were expecting the attendance of representatives from Army Sports Directorate, Air Force and Navy in Tuesday’s meeting of general council. However, none of them came to the meeting.

A majority of the 103 members of POA general body who attended the important meeting included representatives from federations of baseball, boxing, cycling, football, golf, gymnastic, rowing, rugby, handball, ju-jitsu, swimming, softball, weightlifting, tug of war, volleyball, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu, Wapda, Police, Railways, Fata, Punjab, Balochistan, KPK, Athletics Commission among others.—Sports Reporter
