ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Tuesday said that names of caretaker prime minister and chief ministers will be announced in time after necessary consultation.

Speaking to a private television channel, he said the names will decided with the consultation of leader of the house and leader of the opposition with consensus of all stakeholders and according to the constitution.

The minister said that there would be no delay in the upcoming elections and the government would consult all stakeholders for the interim setup to ensure free, fair and transparent polls.

He said that all the stakeholders, including political parties, judiciary, media and civil society wanted free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

The minister said that according to the constitution, the interim setup will be established through the systematic institutional procedure.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government has introduced structural reforms within the constitutional parameters to form the interim government, he said.

Replying to a question, Kaira said that now democratic institution are mature enough to take political initiatives and decisions to hold free, fair and transparent election in the country.

He said that parliament is the supreme institution to follow the voice of the masses and to sustain strong democracy in the country.

The minister urged the media to play a positive roll to maintain conducive environment for transparent elections.

He said the chief election commissioner was appointed with the consensus of all political parties, who is fully committed to conduct free and fair polls.

The information minister said the government has followed democratic norms to promote culture of tolerance in country. PPP has always respected the judiciary and its decisions, he added.
