KARACHI, Feb 7: Second seed Yasir Khan proved too good for Malik Hamza when he registered an emphatic 6-3, 6-3 victory to advance into last four in the Sindh Open ranking tennis championship at Defence Authority Creek Club on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the main round of ladies singles also commenced on Thursday with only eight entrants. Kinza Ghanchi won her opener 6-3, 6-3 against Amina Sureen.

Results: Men’s singles: First round: Sikander Hayat Khan bt Fahim Ramzan 6-1, 3-2 (retired); Abdul Rehman bt Chengez Hasan 6-0, 6-0; Nawab Muzaffar (Mirpurkhas) bt Robin Das.

Quarter-final: Yasir Khan bt Malik Hamza 6-3, 6-3.

Ladies singles: Qualifying round: Rida Khan bt Fizza Kazim 8-1.

First round: Kinza Ghanchi bt Amina Sureen 6-3, 6-3.

Boys’ and girls’ under-15 singles: Quarter-finals: Sahibzada Mohammad Ali bt Hania Naveed 3-6, 6-2, 10-2; Farzan Azhar bt Jalaluddin Babar (Mirpurkhas) 6-1, 4-0 (retired).

Boys’ and girls’ under-13 singles: Quarter-finals: Zubair Raja bt Shahmir 6-3, 6-4; Bilal Imran bt Noman Aftab 6-4, 6-3.

Boys’ and girls’ under-11 singles: First round: Mustafa Admani bt Saqib 8-1; Mohammad Dada bt Abdullah Javed walkover.

Boys’ under-9 singles: Semi-final: Mohammad Abdullah Admani bt Ali Dada 8-1.
