PESHAWAR, Jan 19: Fog enveloped the provincial capital and its adjoining areas for the third consecutive day on Sunday, disrupting air and railway traffic here.
Officials at the Peshawar International Airport said that various flights had to be cancelled or delayed due to continuous fog for the last three days.
Similarly, all the trains have been arriving late since the fog began engulfing Peshawar.
An official at the Railway Inquiry said that none of the trains had arrived on time.
In the morning, motorists had to turn on their head-lights due to dense fog. The situation improved in the afternoon, but not to the extent that the flights could operate.
An official at the local Met office informed Dawn that the visibility recorded was 400 meters on Sunday which was not enough for the flights to operate.
Four international flights could not operate from Peshawar on Sunday and the passengers had to be taken to Islamabad for boarding those flights.
A woman official at the PIA Flight Inquiry said three PIA flights bound for Dubai, Kuwait City and Riyadh, and a Shaheen Air’s Dubai-bound flight could not operate from Peshawar and the passengers were taken to Islamabad.
Similarly, she added that no flight could land in Peshawar due to thick fog on the run-way. The fog also disrupted domestic flights from Islamabad, Karachi, Chitral and Lahore.
