THE imposition of Governor’s rule in Balochistan after the deadliest attack against the Hazara community at Alamadar road, Quetta, seems to have been taken wrongly by Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and his party. The JUI-F started a series of protests against the imposition of Governor’s rule and demanded for the restoration of the incompetent provincial assembly.

It is unfortunate that the JUI-F is not concerned about the worsening law and order situation which has taken thousands of innocent lives in the past four years. They are just worried about the loss of their seats in the provincial assembly. Thus, putting the lives of thousands of innocent civilians at stake for a few assembly seats cannot be called a rational act on the part of the JUI-F.

The question remains as to what kind of Islamic principles they are following. They do not seem to be paying any heed to the bloodshed of the Hazara community in particular and the people of Balochistan in general. The greed and lust for power and money have made them blind and thus they are not able to see and feel the grievances and sufferings of the local people of this province who have remained at the mercy of the terrorists and extremists.

The fact of the matter is that peace is returning in Balochistan, especially its capital after the imposition of the governor’s rule. The F.C has started targeted operations which have resulted in the arrest of several targeted killers and terrorists belonging to different outlawed organisations that were involved in terrorist activities against innocent civilians and personnel of the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, the JUI-F should appreciate such developments and must refrain from discouraging such measures taken by the law enforcement agencies that are providing security to the citizens and maintaining peace in the region even at the risk of their own lives.

Additionally, it should be clear that the provincial government is not dismissed, rather suspended for a temporary period of time, i.e. two months, to ensure peace and security in the province which the provincial government failed to provide to its citizens.

The people have a full right to enjoy their basic rights. Therefore, the authorities and the representatives of the people should not create hurdles. They should make ways for the promotion of peace and security. No one should be above the law and no interest should be given priority other than the people’s interest.
