LAHORE, Feb 2: The solitary goal of the match by Awais-ur-Rehman helped PIA edge out Customs 1-0 as three more matches were decided in the National Junior Hockey Championship in Faisalabad on Saturday.

According to the information reaching here, Awais struck the winner in the 33rd minute.

Two-goal Waseem Abbas steered Wapda to 5-0 victory against Higher Education Commission after being 2-0 at half time.

After Aleem Bilal put Wapda ahead scoring the first goal  in the 10th minute, M Saleem banged home in the next minute converting a short-corner.

Waseem scored his first goal in the very first minute of the second half and then converted another penalty-corner in the 50th minute with Mohammad Adnan completing the tally with a field goal in the 59th minute.

In the third match, Arslan Sherazi pumped in three goals to enable Sui Southern Gas Company to register 6-1 win against Army with the winning side leading the first-half 2-0.

Arslan found the cage in the 11th, 38th and 51st minutes through field attempts with Sohail (eighth), Qayyum (46th) and Adnan (66th) being other scorers for the winning side.

Mohammad Yasir reduced the lead by converting a penalty-stroke in the 41st minute. Sunday is the rest day.—Sports Reporter
