Nowadays vocalist Sajjad Ali’s new track Har Zulm is a rage on the social media. Well, it has its merits and the singer should be commended for it. But it raises a big question regarding the oft-repeated phrase ‘Pakistan has no dearth in talent’. If there is talent, why do our veteran pop stars have to resurface to make a point that the Pakistani music scene is alive and kicking? Where is the new ‘talent’ in music? Also, Sajjad A’s latest song does not give any indication of the artist reinventing himself. It’s the same old singer with the same old velvety voice with the same old melodious number. Perhaps he doesn’t have to reinvent. Others do.
