LAHORE, Jan 18: The National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) has signed contracts for 124 new construction projects, including 50 foreign projects, during the last one year and a half.

This was stated by Nespak managing director S.P. Chohan in a statement here on Saturday.

He said that the foreign projects were mostly in Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman while the projects in Pakistan included Mangla Dam raising, Mirani Dam and Basha Dam projects. With the new contracts the total number of on-going projects has reached 191, he added.

He said that other projects acquired by Nespak independently and in joint ventures include Gwadar Master Plan, Greater Thal Canal Project, Chashma Right Bank Canal Project, Lahore Ring Road, Sialkot international airport, Wapda’s Vision 2025 programme, NUST campus project, Islamabad Jinnah gardens housing project, Islamabad, upgradation and relocation of Karakorum Highway and several other road and bridge projects in the country and Azad Kashmir.

The foreign projects include a network of roads and highways, power and water supply projects, storm water drainage in Oman and Saudi Arabia, a large hospital complex in Yemen and preparation of detailed design of Kabul-Torkhum highway project in Afghanistan.

He said that Nespak has also provided all engineering services for the construction of Rs9 billion new Lahore international airport which was designed by the company.

He said that Nespak has also submitted Gwadar Master Plan for the establishment of industrial areas, petrochemical and oil and gas terminals and exploitation of tourism potential at Gwadar.
