HYDERABAD, Jan 18: Two expelled members of the Anjumn-i-Imamiya, Sindh, which looks after the Qadam Gah-i-Maula Ali, have demanded an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of funds of the association.
They appealed to the Sindh industries secretary, who is controlling authority of the Anjuman, to seize its accounts.
Speaking at a news conference here on Thursday, Ali Mohammad Channa and Imdad Sheikh said that they were illegally expelled from the Anjuman when they identified irregularities in the Anjuman affairs.
Presenting the documentary evidence, they said that whenever anyone tried to point out malpractice in the association or to put the things in order, he was expelled from the Anjuman.
They claimed that it was only in 1991 that the accounts of the Anjuman were audited and a fraud of Rs214,000 was detected by the auditors.
They claimed that no audit was held since 1991 or before that.
TALPUR: Mir Naseer Khan Talpur, a scion of former ruling family of Sindh, who was present on the occasion, offered to mediate between the warring groups.
He said that his family had brought the relics of Hazrat Ali (RA) and kept them at the Qadam Gah.
He said that the Qadam Gah was not personal property of anyone. He said that if the office-bearers of the Anjuman did not manage the affairs in accordance with its constitution, he would move the high court.
