LAHORE: PR plans housing scheme

Published January 19, 2003

LAHORE, Jan 18: The Pakistan Railways is planning to launch a low-cost housing scheme on its over 100 acres lying idle adjacent to its Risalpur locomotive factory.

Official sources said on Saturday that negotiations with three private sector estate developers were in the offing to develop the scheme which will mainly meant for the employees of the factory.

However, there will be no bar on employees of other railway departments or ordinary citizens though it will not suit them for being far from any town.
