RAWALPINDI, Jan 18: Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Shafi Saturday awarded five-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a convicted drug-trafficker.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the convict Aziz-ur-Rehman. In case of default, he would have to undergo additional six-month jail-term.

The anti-narcotics force (ANF) had booked the convict after seizing 1.5kg opium from his possession in the jurisdiction of RA Bazaar police station.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Sayyed Pervez Ali Shah awarded two-and-a-half-year RI to a convicted drug peddler Mastan Ali. The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the convict. In case of default, he would have to undergo additional six-month imprisonment. Civil Lines police had recovered 1kg charas from the convict. Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate Hasnain Azhar awarded six-month RI to a convicted burglar Naeem Khan besides a fine of Rs3,000 fine. In case of default, he would have to serve additional one-month rigorous imprisonment. The convict had been booked by Bani police.—Our Reporter
