MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 23: Three persons died and eight were injured after a passenger jeep they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Sudhnoti district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Wednesday.

Witnesses said the accident occurred after the speeding vehicle, coming from Rawalakot, went out of the driver’s control while negotiating a curve near district jail Palandari.

As a result three persons, Haji Mohammad Arshad, Aslam Munsaf Dad and Zahid Shafi, died on the spot and eight others, including the driver, were injured.

The driver and another injured person were shifted to Islamabad for being in critical condition, whereas the rest were hospitalised in the nearby facilities.
