PESHAWAR, Jan 16: Activists of People’s Youth Organisation and People’s Students Federation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday held a demonstration in support of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and against the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Holding banners and placards inscribed with messages in favour of the prime minister, the participants also shouted slogans in support of President Zardari and the government.
A large number of activists gathered on the Sher Shah Suri Road where they brunt tyres and shouted slogans against the verdict of the apex court.
The demonstrators announced to hold rallies in favour of the government as it had the right to complete its constitutional tenure given by the people.
Speaking on the occasion, PYO provincial president Ijaz Yousafzai claimed the PM was innocent in the rental power case and that the order issued by the Supreme Court was not acceptable to the workers of Pakistan People’s Party. He said future line of action against the verdict would be decided after consultation with local leaders of PPP.
Meanwhile, members of PSF took out a procession at Peshawar University Campus in support of the PM and vowed to take firm stand for protection of democracy.
The PSF leaders, Malik Amjad and Fahim Khattak, said conspiracies were hatched against the government, but the PPP leadership always faced the challenges and worked for welfare of the people.
The PPP, they said had the ‘credit’ of rendering sacrifices for strengthening democracy, independence of judiciary and struggling against dictatorship.
