KARACHI, Jan 16: President of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani Thursday has said that the victory of the MMA candidates in byelections for Rawalpindi, Charsadda and Texila seats proves that people of the entire country want a change in the leadership.

Talking to newsmen at his office here on Thursday, Maulana Noorani said: “Not only that the MMA is a ray of hope for the people of Pakistan, Muslims around the world wish and pray for the success of the conglomerate of religious parties.”

The MMA chief urged President Musharraf to accept the “principled demands” put forward by the alliance and uphold the Constitution in running the country’s affairs.

He criticized Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) while referring to the recent incidents of violence and claimed that law and order situation was being created in Sindh under a well-conceived conspiracy. “People, one day, will be able to exercise their right to franchise without any pressure,” Noorani predicted.—PPI
