Seminars on social sector issues

MULTAN, Nov 24: The multi-donor support unit (MSU) has planned a series of seminars at the district level throughout the Punjab.

The first seminar of the series will be held in Multan in December, 2001.

Objectives of the seminar will be to increase awareness on social sector issues and to facilitate the district government in improving planning, implementation and monitoring of social sector services.

Specific aims to get up seminar in the Multan district will however be to present the profile on elementary education, primary health population, family planning, water supply and sanitation.

Another objective is to identify priority areas and issues in the social sector based on the Multan profile and draw their linkage to district development plans.

It may be mentioned that MSU is a technical assistance unit established in 1993 to assist the government in planning, implementing and monitoring of basic social service under the Social Action Programme.—Nouman
