RAWALPINDI, Jan 15: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has said that Pakistan’s nuclear programme is security-driven and the country does not harbour any aggressive designs against any country.

Addressing officers at Air Headquarters in Chaklala after receiving an operational briefing on Wednesday, he said the defence of the country’s territorial integrity was the responsibility of the Pakistan armed forces.

“It would be a grave fallacy to assume that anyone else would come to our assistance during times of test and trial,” he said.

It was, therefore, imperative that the qualitative and deterrent capability of the armed forces was maintained, he said. According to the ISPR, he underscored the importance of Pakistan Air Force and said efforts were afoot for the acquisition and development of modern technology to further enhance PAF’s efficiency.
