RAWALPINDI: Traders have opposed the long march and continued business activities in Rawalpindi as almost all the big and small shopping malls remained opened on Monday.

The traders rejected the protest call given by Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran. The shopkeepers set up their shops as usual and declared the protest call irrational.

Buyers were also seen visiting the markets to purchase foodstuff and household items.

After the assurance of the City District Government Rawalpindi that foolproof security will be provided to the business community, the traders opened their shops.

Earlier, the business communities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad urged Tahirul Qadri to call off the long march.

Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Vice President Chaudhry Pervaiz Ahmed Warriach said that the business community is already facing hard times because of the energy crisis and could not afford to close their business for any type of long march.

He urged poltical leaders to take steps for public welfare which is already facing many problems.
