LAHORE, Jan 13: A man was killed by the firing of Rangers in the Kasur sector early on Sunday.

Rangers personnel claimed they seized an unspecified quantity of Indian liquor on the man.

According to a release issued from the Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) headquarters, the personnel cordoned off the border area after a tip off that people with smuggled liquor would cross into Pakistan from India on Saturday night.

The patrolling officials challenged some unidentified suspects entering into the Pakistani side following which the suspects opened fire and started running back.

Rangers retaliated by firing and shot dead one of them. Others managed to escape.

Officials seized a quantity of liquor dropped by the runaway suspects. The body of the deceased, whose name was not released, was handed over to the local police for legal formalities.
