GUJRAT, Nov 24: Over 50 spectators have been deprived of their cash by some pick pockets at a circus near Lalamusa Wapda office along the GT Road during the last four days, it is learnt.
Police sources said several locals and people from other areas had contacted the City police to lodge complaints. But instead of registering a case against pick pockets, police asked complainants to mend their ways and harassed them, they said.
Those fallen prey of pick pockets were identified as Arshad (Rs5,700), Nasir (524), Umar (228), Khayyam (2,500), Sarwar (8,500), Asad (2,900), Rana Naeem (2,155), Jamil Ahmad (2,750), Imtiaz (1,725) and Rafique Bhatti (3,725). They all belonged to Lalamusa while names of other victims could not be confirmed.
Sources said that pick pockets were employees of the circus.
They said the circus management was daily greasing the palms of the City police highups for not taking action against circus employees-cum-pick pockets.
