Army pugilists dominate

LAHORE, Jan 15: Eight boxers of the Army qualified for the finals of the 27th national  boxing championship at the Wapda Sports Complex Wednesday, alongwith five boxers of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and four of host Wapda.

Karachi Electric Supply Corporation  (KESC), Navy, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan, all have a single finalist each.

The finals will be held tomorrow.

Results (semifinals):

48 kgs: Nauman Karim (Army ) bt Imran Hafeez (Wapda); Ali Baloch (KPT) bt Ejaz Ahmad (Punjab)

51 kgs: Akhtar Pervez (Army) bt Abid Ali (Wapda); Jawad Hussain (Navy) bt Shahid Jan (Sindh)

54 kgs: Muhammad Fateh (Sindh) bt Ishaque(Balochistan); Aqeel Ahmad (Army) bt Abdul Majeed (KPT)

57 kgs: Mehrullah (KPT) bt Bakhat Hussain (Navy); Hayatullah (Wapda) bt Safdar (Punjab)

60 kgs. Sahib Khan (Wapda) bt Hayatullah (Balochistan): Shahid Jan (KPT) bt Imran Khan (Army)

64 kgs: Sher Khan (Army) bt Shahid Jan (KPT); Asghar Ali Shah (KPT) bt Jan Mohammad (Sindh)

69 kgs: Javed Jan (KESC) bt Dur Muhammad (Sindh); Naseer Ahmad (Army) bt Allah Bakhsh (Navy)

75 kgs: Saeed Ahmed (Army) bt Abdul Waheed (Navy); Manzoor Ahmad (KPT) bt Rashid Minhas (PAF)

81 kgs: Muzzamil (Punjab) bt Muhammad Shafique (PAF); Ahmed Ali (Army) bt Tanvir Butt (Wapda)

91 kgs: Shaukat Ali (Army) bt Muhammad Hanif (PAF); Shujah Abbas (Wapda) bt Pukar Khan (PAF)

Above 91: Muzaffar Iqbal (Wapda) bt Abdul Razzaq (Army); Riaz Kansi (Balochistan) bt Muhammad Qasim (PAF).
