FAISALABAD, Jan 15: The Nazim of a union council of Mamukanjan was arrested on Wednesday.
Three villagers had lodged a complaint with the Mamukanjan police that union council Nazim Ahmad Shahzad was patronizing cattle-lifters and other criminals in the area.
Police registered a case against the Nazim and arrested him from his house.
KILLED BY RIVAL: A labourer was killed by his opponent in Faizabad on Wednesday.
Police said that industrial worker Muhammad Saleem was stabbed and injured by his rival Bashir Ahmad in the main bazaar of Faizabad. Saleem died on the spot.
Police claimed that Saleem and Bashir had an old enmity.
LOTTERY TICKETS: Sixteen people were arrested for selling and purchasing lottery tickets identical to prize bond numbers from different parts of the city on Tuesday night.
Khurrianwala police arrested Muhammad Mushtaq, Allah Ditta, Ghulam Murtaza, Zulfiqar Ali and Riasat Ali. Sargodha Road police arrested Dilshad and Saqib Mahmood, Samundari police arrested Nazar Muhammed and Yousaf while Saddar police rounded up Ismat Ali, Naseer and their five accomplices.
