JHAHG, Jan 15: Kotwali police on Wednesday registered a case under anti-terrorism laws against acting district Naib Nazim for forming a non-governmental organization (NGO) allegedly to generate funds for a banned religious outfit.

Sheikh Farooq Ahmad advocate was elected union council Nazim on the SSP ticket. He has been working as acting district Naib Nazim since district Naib Nazim Syed Asad Hayat tendered his resignation in September last to contest the Oct 10 general election.

The acting district Naib Nazim formed the (NGO) in the name of Eisar Welfare Society with Rashid Mehmood, another SSP activist as its secretary-general. The apparent function of the NGO was stated to be the collection of donations for the welfare of the poor and the down-trodden people.

The police on the contrary feared that the funds generated thus could be delivered to the defunct organization who could use them for the acts of terrorism.
