LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 11: Three Frontier Constabulary personnel were killed in a road accident here on Friday.

An official said that an ambulance van carrying the coffin of FC soldier Mohammad Munir, who lost his life in Quetta blast the other night, to Kamar Mashani in Mianwali district when it collided with a passenger bus near Lucky Cement Factory on Bannu-DI Khan road.

As a result, three Balochistan FC personnel were killed and one was injured, he said and identified the three soldiers as Asmatullah, Sher Khan and Zahidullah.

Local police later shifted the wounded soldier to a nearby hospital, while the bus driver reportedly fled the scene.

In another accident, a truck hit a motorcycle on Dera-Tank road in Lakki city. As a result, one motorcycle rider identified as Hazrat Usman, a resident of Abakhel, died on the spot, while his companion Mohammad Iqbal of Lakki city was pronounced dead at the government city hospital.

Police have started investigation into the incidents after registration of the cases.

PROTEST THREATENED: Elders of Abakhel and Dallokhel towns have threatened to launch a protest campaign against Peshawar Electric Supply Company if prolonged loadshedding was not stopped immediately.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, former nazim Johar Mohammad, JUI-F district amir Abdul Rahim and others alleged that local officials of Pesco Lakki sub-division were involved in illegal shutting of power supply to both the rural areas and adjacent localities.

They said that the Pesco had been resorting to about 20-hour power suspension. They demanded immediate transfer of Pesco Lakki sub-divisional officer and asked the authorities concerned to shift power links installed on main transmission line to a proper place to control electricity supply to Dallokhel, Abakhel and other localities.

The elders said that they had held several meetings with officials of district administration and Pesco to resolve the issue, but to no avail. They demanded that the old electricity wire on power pylons between Dallokhel and Abakhel villages should be replaced forthwith.

The elders also called for expediting work on establishing Aba Shaheed feeder as it would help resolve the problem of loadshedding and low voltage.
