KARACHI: Mr H.S. Suhrawardy had a recurrence of heart attack yesterday afternoon and his condition was causing anxiety, according to a bulletin issued by the Medical Board last night.

Dr A.M. Kassim, Director of Central Heart Clinic, Jinnah Hospital, under whose treatment Mr Suhrawardy is, told Dawn late last night: “He is restful and has no pain.”

The recurrence of heart attack took place at 1.45pm yesterday when Mr Suhrawardy was just to finish his lunch. He was provided immediate treatment.

Later, Mr Suhrawardy was examined by a three-man Medical Board which issued the following bulletin on the completion of examination:

“Mr Husain Shaheed Suhrawardy had a recurrence of heart attack and his condition is causing anxiety. He was examined by a Medical Board consisting of Col. M.H. Shah, Commander Syed Shaukat and Dr A.M. Kassim. They advised complete rest and no visitors are permitted.”

This was the second heart attack suffered by Mr Suhrawardy during the last 24 hours.

The attack was stated to be the result of exertion. Despite doctor’s advice, Mr Suhrawardy continued to work and meet people.

On the advice of doctors, a sign plate has been placed outside the door of Mr Suhrawardy, saying “No visitors allowed”. The doctors are maintaining a constant watch over him.—Staff Correspondent
